In 2019, I created two public fashion shows in Seattle with the aim of: 1) introducing my creations; 2) making fashion accessible and exciting for the general public by presenting clothing in a dynamic presentation format; 3) promoting innovative spaces for fashion and art.
Together with a group of stylists, models and photographers, these two collaborative and independently-run shows were "Balance" at Inscape Arts during Inscape Open Studios, and "Hybrids" at Traver Art Gallery during the Pioneer Square Art Walk.
The vision for the shows was to combine an urban pulse with light and abstract patterns. A balance of tailored forms, sharp colors and delicate textures. For our fashion show at Inscape, we worked with Seattle botany artist, Ondine, to create a floral sculpture and headpieces inspired by the art of Ikebana and A.Oei's Mirage Print. While the gallery and sculptures at Traver Art Gallery formed a stage for the models and visitors to interact in a one-of-a-kind experience that fused the concepts of art and fashion.
